Why "Meta"? The company name refers to the Greek word for "for" (Beyond). This expression symbolizes the fact that "there is always something to build".

The inspiration for the creation of the metaverse dates back to 1992, when an American author Neal stephenson coined the term in his seminal and highly influential science fiction novel Snow crash, to describe what is essentially a virtual reality (VR) version of the Internet.

As the creator of Meta himself assures, nothing fundamental changes for Facebook users. It is difficult to imagine all the possibilities of Meta in ordinary practice, which the company represents, since not all of them are yet operational.
